Medical Fitness Training
Have you just finished recovering from an injury through physical therapy and want to take your fitness to the next level so you can get back to doing the activities you love?
- Do you want to increase the intensity of your workouts but fear re-injury?
- Is it hard for you to keep up with your kids or grandkids on a daily basis due to decreased strength and mobility?
- Are you wanting to be proud of your body and fitness level despite your age and/or medical history?
- Are you wanting to hit your next personal record without the worry of injuring yourself along the way?
- Are you looking for a long-term fitness solution that allows you to live an active lifestyle?
We help active adults get back to doing the things they love and athletes achieve peak performance.
After completing their initial plan of care to rehab a specific injury, we offer our patients an opportunity to continue with their Doctor of Physical Therapy through our Medical Fitness Training program. Through this evolving program we help our patients make the transition from physical therapy to a regular physical activity program following a surgery, an injury, a medical diagnosis or exacerbation of a pre-existing condition.
Unlike traditional personal training, you will continue to work directly with your Doctor of Physical therapy who will develop a personalized training program as well as perform physical therapy in each of your sessions. Working with your Doctor ensures that you don’t reinjure yourself and that your fitness program is tailored to your specific needs and medical history.
Unlike most personal trainers, our Doctors possess the training and skills to work with medical conditions; medical needs may include orthopedic injury, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, neuromuscular disorders, heart disease, lung disease, osteoporosis, cancer, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, Parkinson’s, and multiple sclerosis.
Imagine not having to think about every little movement and if it was going to make your condition worse! That’s our goal for you. We want to eliminate worry and maximize optimal performance so you can reach your fitness goals and full potential while doing so.
Medical Fitness Training
Phase 1: Goal Setting and Re-Assessment
During your first visit, you’ll meet with your Doctor of Physical Therapy to discuss your current performance and where you’d like to be. We’ll identify your fitness goals and what you want to achieve. Your physical therapist will screen your strength, range of motion, and agility to ensure you’re safe and ready to take on a challenging strength and conditioning program.
Any limitations or imbalances will be taken into account, along with your personal goals and history. This allows us to build an optimal plan to maximize your training and minimize the risk of injury.
Phase 2: Program Creation and Implementation
Using the information gathered during your first session, we’ll create a personalized, progressive training program tailored to your specific needs.
You’ll have one-on-one guided strength and conditioning sessions where you’ll be introduced to new exercises, receive guidance on proper form, and get an effective workout. During each session your Doctor may check your alignment, perform manual therapy, cup therapy and utilize a number of our state-of-the-art therapeutic devices, prior to beginning your exercise program for the session.
Step 3: Ongoing Assessment and Progression
Between sessions, you’ll have access to your daily at-home program through our Home Exercise Program software, including video tutorials and detailed instructions for frequency, sets, reps, and weights for all workouts.
As your plan progresses, your physical therapist will continually monitor your progress. If something isn’t working or isn’t helping you reach your goals, we’ll adjust your plan to ensure measurable progress toward your most important objectives. We want you to succeed and feel confident that you’re making the necessary strides toward your fitness goals.
